Naada Bansuri places a physically modeled Indian bamboo flute inside GeoShred Studio, where breath dynamics, microtonal inflections, and the bansuri's distinctive airy tone respond directly to pressure and gesture on the playing surface. The instrument is fully polyphonic, supporting chords and layered melodic lines simultaneously.

Works with MPE controllers, wind and breath controllers, and GeoShred Control, a free iPhone and iPad companion app that delivers a multi-touch expressive surface for live performance.

Naada Bansuri runs inside GeoShred Studio, bringing the ancient bamboo flute's pure, meditative voice to GeoShred's multi-row continuous pitch surface. Slide across the grid to trace the fluid ornamental lines of Hindustani raga; press into the surface to shape breath intensity, flutter tongue, and the partial hole coverage that gives the bansuri its characteristic microtonal shadings. Because the instrument is polyphonic, you can sustain a drone tone while weaving melodic phrases above it, or voice full chords with the bansuri's luminous timbre. GeoShred's integrated FX rack adds EchoMT, Reverb, and AmpCab processing directly in the signal chain.

Sacred Bamboo, Luminous Tone. The bansuri is a transverse bamboo flute with a history spanning at least 3,000 years on the Indian subcontinent, inseparable from the iconography of Lord Krishna. Made from a single hollow bamboo tube with one blow hole and six or eight finger holes, the instrument carries no keys or pads. Its intonation and timbre depend entirely on the player's embouchure and breath control, with partially covered holes producing the microtonal inflections central to raga music. The result is a pure, airy, meditative sound whose breathy attack and clear upper partials distinguish it from the Western concert flute.

GeoShred Studio and GeoShred Control. GeoShred Studio operates as a VST3, AU, or AUv3 plugin inside major DAWs, or as a standalone application. Its isomorphic surface is tuned in perfect fourths, providing a layout where melodic intervals repeat consistently across rows. Pressure and gesture are mapped continuously to instrument parameters, making the surface a direct conduit for expression rather than a series of on/off triggers.

GeoShred Control is a free companion app for iPhone and iPad that connects via USB, adding a second multi-touch expressive surface for live performance. MPE hardware controllers and wind or breath controllers connect directly to GeoShred Studio as well.
