Pitched a fifth below the erhu, the zhonghu fills the tenor middle voice in Chinese orchestral writing with a darker, richer bow tone. Naada Zhonghu models that inner-voice weight inside GeoShred Studio, where polyphonic physical modeling and continuous pitch control meet on a pressure-responsive playing surface.

The zhonghu occupies the harmonic center of the Chinese orchestral string section, and Naada Zhonghu brings that grounding tonal presence into GeoShred Studio. The AccelMatrix Naada engine models the instrument's larger body and lower tuning, producing a tone that is darker and fuller than the erhu while retaining the huqin family's characteristic expressiveness. On GeoShred's multi-row pitch surface, pressure shapes bow dynamics, slides control vibrato and pitch inflection, and the polyphonic engine supports chords, sustained pads, and layered inner-voice textures. EchoMT, Reverb, and AmpCab are accessible through the integrated FX rack.

The Middle Voice of the Huqin Family. Designed in the 20th century to give Chinese orchestras a tenor-range bowed string analogous to the Western viola, the zhonghu is larger than the erhu and tuned a fifth lower. Its tone sits in a register that bridges the erhu's singing upper voice and the deeper resonance of bass huqin instruments. Where the erhu projects a solo line and the gaohu cuts through an ensemble, the zhonghu binds them together from the inside. The model distinguishes this darker tonal weight clearly from its higher-pitched relatives.
GeoShred Studio and GeoShred Control. GeoShred Studio functions as a VST3, AU, or AUv3 plugin compatible with Logic Pro, Cubase, Reaper, and other DAWs, and also operates as a standalone instrument. Its isomorphic surface, tuned in perfect fourths, maps pressure and gesture to instrument parameters at every point on the grid. The layout gives the zhonghu's lower register a natural horizontal spread that suits sustained, connected phrasing.
GeoShred Control is a free iOS app that pairs with GeoShred Studio over USB, placing a multi-touch expressive surface on an iPhone or iPad for live performance use. MPE hardware and wind or breath controllers connect to GeoShred Studio directly as well.
