Pure Brass. Whether it's a fiery fanfare or a dark, resonant ensemble passage, these instruments exude sonic versatility and brilliant variety. Each note was performed by master musicians who brought their exceptional skill and artistry to the recording sessions: Trumpet player Freddy Staudigl, hornist Marcus Schmidinger, and trombonist Johann Schodl - founding members of the acclaimed ensemble Brassissimo - are not only celebrated quintet performers but also sought-after soloists and orchestral musicians on the international stage. Adding to this stellar lineup is virtuoso Christoph Kiene, renowned worldwide for his tuba performances and expertise as a lecturer.

The Vienna team meticulously captured every nuance of their intricate performances at the Silent Stage, a purpose-built studio designed for "dry" recordings with a tight, controlled ambience. The result is a collection of pristine samples that allow these instruments to shine in all their brassy glory.

Expanded Articulations. Studio Brass offers a huge array of articulations, opening a world of expressive possibilities. In addition to Vienna's acclaimed legato transitions there are fast intervals in legato and marcato styles, Performance Trills, arpeggios (major, minor, and diminished in legato and staccato) and mordents. Among the specialties are the trumpet ensemble's "out of tune" sustains, as they happen now and then in real orchestral situations. The three trumpet players don't hit the note exactly at the beginning - a beat frequency ensues which is corrected as the tone progresses, eventually resulting in a clean homophony. The trumpets also feature "rips & falls". And the trombone ensembles, too, offer a specialty. Clusters of three notes with half tone intervals are available in staccato (two variations), sustained, crescendo and diminuendo (in two tone lengths), sforzato, and even as repetition performances.

Exceptional Acoustics. This collection integrates the acclaimed convolution reverb based on Vienna MIR Pro 3D technology. This reverb adds depth and realism, placing each instrument at its perfect spot on the virtual Stage A of Vienna Synchron Stage. Turn off the internal convolution and use any reverb of your choice, including the algorithmic reverb of the Synchron Player, to tailor the sound of these brass instruments to the needs of your production - from dry mixes to reverberant epicness.
